The Surroundings The Region of Lea-Artibai

At the very northeast of Biscay, in the area bordered by the rivers Lea and Artibai, is the region where the Basque language, traditions and the individuality of the entire region have best been preserved against the backdrop of 20 km of coast where there are fascinating geological and landscape features.

This area is, moreover, particularly renowned for its dedication to ball games given that many young people have been, as is the case in America, excellent players of jai alai which has, to a large extent, boosted the expansion of our sport.

The interesting monuments and houses in Markina, Arretxinaga chapel, the stunning views from the isolated Santa Eufemia chapel and the trace of Bolívar’s distinguished citizen, the ancient history of Ziortza, the natural beauty of the town of Lekeitio and its surroundings such as the beach of fine sand of Karraspio, the peaceful beach of Ogeia, the hallmark of the sea as exuded by the quays of Ondarroa... a thousand reasons for making this visit a must.
